Brody

a robot I'm building · milestone #1

Hey, this is Brody. He started as a doodle in my notebook, and now I'm designing him for real in Autodesk Inventor. This is my first milestone: the wheels and the brackets that hold them are done. Here's where he's at.

Original pencil sketch of Brody the robot
Where it started
The original concept. Box head, blocky armored body, and two big wheels for feet.
Front view of the wheel in Inventor with dimensions
The wheel
The disc Brody rolls on, modeled in Inventor at a quarter inch thick.
Internal frame and motor mount inside the wheel
Inside the wheel
The frame and motor mount that everything bolts onto.
Drive assembly seated in the wheel
Coming together
The drive assembly dropped into the wheel, starting to look like a real hub.
Side view of the wheel next to the leg bracket
Side profile
The wheel next to the leg-to-wheel bracket that holds it on.

Parts modeled so far

Wheels and brackets modeled and assembled. Next up: the legs, then the body and that box head from the sketch.
